August Update

Another long overdue update!

We started siding this week... You can see the yellow siding in a few pics, I think it will be a little darker when we get another coat on there. We have finished up most of our excavation projects. We set the retaining wall that came from Redirock Int. via Carrol Concrete. It is a cobblestone pattern, each block contains a print of cobblestone on it, it looks pretty authentic until you get right up close. It was easy to install in a day with the help of an excavator to set them (2600 lbs a piece).

Doors are all in, and most of the trim is all complete. We used Azec PVC trim around all the doors and windows. While being a bit pricey, it will save us years of repainting and changing out rotted boards. Well worth the exrta $ in my mind. The siding is fiber cement board, It is pretty authentic alternative to wood, and is fade, rot, insect, warp and crack resistant.

All plumbing has been roughed in, including all the radiant tubing in the main two floors. The electrician is just about done roughing in all the wiring. As soon as he is done and we have finished up on our siding we will begin with the spray insulation.

Overdue Update

Lots of new progress to show since I have been slacking on the updates. We got our windows delivered a couple weeks ago and have been installing them. The garage roof went up this week and the shingles are going on now. The radiant heating tubing has been run for the upstairs and the downstairs is now in progress.

The windows have really made the house start to come together. Doors are due to be delivered this week too so it should start looking like a real house soon. We decided to use fiber cement clapboards for the house and a fiber cement shake for the garage. We had the clapboards delivered last week and have been slowly chipping away at prepainting them. The color we chose is called country comfort, its a light yellow. We haven't decided on a garage color but it will be some shade of red to follow along with the whole farmhouse feel.

We also put a new piece of the puzzle in play this week. We have decided to add a farmers porch on the back. Lots of work to be done!
